Vintage Roses Cottage Quilt

I finally finished this one! I love the way it feels… soft, lightweight, drapey (is that’s word?), just all around vintage and cozy!

I just realized I don’t have a photo of the quilt in its entirety. I’ll try to get one soon so you can see the large sections of fabrics. The front began with a centerpiece: a vintage Scalamandre fabric sample featuring flowers in an urn. I put strips of vintage blue glazed cotton above and below the Scalamandre piece. Then I added green silk dupioni on the left and right of the Scalamandre. I topped the blue strip with a vintage green floral, and sewed a green and purple plaid silk dupioni at the bottom of the lower blue strip. Last, a wide strip of vintage pink and red rose fabric runs the entire length of the left and right sides of the quilt top.

The back of the quilt is made of a few large pieces of fabric: a beautiful Anna Maria Horner cotton voile, a pretty floral cotton batiste, and a vintage green floral.

I made the double fold French binding with a tiny red fleur de lis print.

I quilted this one by hand. It took much longer than expected but it was worth it! As soon as I get a few more photos, I’ll list this one in my Honeysuckle Lane Etsy shop.

Once things dry up enough around here, I’ll do some work in my small flower beds. Maybe you’d enjoy seeing something besides quilts once in a while.

Come back soon!

God bless,
Lana
