I Wasn't Going To...

I wasn't going to do the eBay thing again... but here it is in December, no one does garage sales this time of year... at least most people don't... and I need to clear out more stuff. :)

I think this chocolate mold is just the cutest thing ever. Now that it has bids, I wish I had kept it for myself. You can find it here, but not for long... it ends today!

So I have started listing things on eBay... old things... vintage and antique things... odds and ends from my home and from boxes in my home. My hope is to add a few items each week during the winter, so check back once in a while to see what's needing a new home. Here's my eBay seller page.

But.... there are some items I'll always keep... like this adorable bear ornament from my friend Wendy of Whendi's Bears! I love it! :)

Do you have a treasured ornament? Tell me about it in the comments below. I'd love to know! :)

Take care and God bless,
Lana

I think it's about time for a giveaway, don't you?

I'll be giving away 2 items, and I'm going to give you 3 ways to enter to win.

The first item is an 8" x 8" print of my original painting, In the Pink. You can see the original here. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite subjects to paint and I love the colors in this one... perfect for a cottage farmhouse!

The second giveaway item is one of my silk ribbon embroidered pillows. This one is about 5.5" x 10". It features red beebalm flowers embroidered with silk ribbon on a lovely aqua dupioni silk fabric. A little raw edge muslin ruffle adds a touch of cottage charm!

Here's how to enter:
For one entry, share this post on your blog, then leave a comment here with the link to your post and tell me which item (the hydrangea print or the silk ribbon pillow) you'd like to win. You may use a photo from this post if you wish.

For the second entry, visit one of my Etsy shops, Lana Manis Designs or Simple Joys Paperie, and leave a comment here with a link to your favorite item, and tell me which item (the hydrangea print or the silk ribbon pillow) you'd like to win.

For the third entry, like my Facebook business page, Lana Manis, and share this on Facebook. You can use the Facebook share link at the end of this post, or share the giveaway post directly from my Facebook page. Be sure to leave a comment here to OR leave a comment on the Facebook giveaway post on my page so I know you shared it. Also tell me which item (the hydrangea print or the silk ribbon pillow) you'd like to win.

It's that simple! :)

I'll announce the winner on December 19th.

Good luck!

What's It Called?

Do you know what this is? I've had this piece for years and finally decided to use it in one of my jewelry assemblages. However, I'm not really sure what it is called.

There are pin clasps on the backs of the smaller pieces at the top. You can see where I've flipped one of them over. Would it have pinned to a coat?

Any ideas are appreciated!

Thanks!
Lana

It's Like This...

I finally make the time to work on jewelry and I LOVE it!

Sorting through gemstones and vintage pieces...

working with the sterling silver wire, making wire-wrapped bead links...

and hammering away until the clasps look just right...

and then I run out of time...
now it's time to work on other orders...
time to clean house...
time to make the dressing...
time to bake the turkey...
but I am thankful, so thankful for the time I have here and there to work on things I love and enjoy.

If you'd like to see my 2013 Holiday Jewelry Collection, just visit this link.
And send your friends over, too...
the more the merrier! :)

Take care & God bless,
Lana

It's About Time!

Remember the bead show I went to back in 2010? And then I mentioned it again in 2012 here. I had planned on using the gemstone beads in jewelry pieces like the ones I made here, but I just never took or found the time.

Well, I finally found the time! I've worked and worked... or maybe I should say I played and played... and put together more than a dozen pieces for this collection.

I've used natural gemstones, lovely old metal findings, vintage and new glass beads...

handmade clay pendants...

and I've used sterling silver wire for the wrapped chain links and clasps that I forged by hand.

And do you see the little oval tag near the clasp? I had jewelry tags engraved with my name so you know who designed the piece!

I will offer two packaging options: a natural kraft box tied with a ribbon...

or a vintage French chocolate tin!

These will be made available later this week. If you are interested in them, check back here in a few days, like my facebook page, or sign up for my newsletter.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Take care & God bless,
Lana

Can You Tell Me?

I have this little old mesh purse in my jewelry stash. It's been there for quite a while... so long that I can't remember when or where I purchased it. I do remember that it was somewhere online and that it was listed as Victorian and that I had plans to use it in one of my assemblage jewelry pieces.

I'm ready to use it now and found a maker's mark on it, but I can't make it out very well. I'm pretty sure the first line is J.M. & C (then a small "le" underlined, I think). I can't read the second line at all. The letters aren't sharp enough, even with a loupe.

Do any of you recognize the mark? If you do, I'd love to know!

Have a wonderful day!

How to Wire a Canvas Painting: For the longest time, I used sawtooth hangers or screw eyes on the back of my framed art. This was when I did more folk art watercolors....

Vintage Velvet Pumpkins - Come and Get 'Em!

I've opened up orders for vintage velvet pumpkins this month. I will begin shipping them October 15th. Last year I had orders for several dozen pumpkins, so I thought I'd better get started. I'll be doing the Norcross Art Fest this weekend and will start on pumpkins when I return home next week.

If you'd like to read more about the pumpkins, you can find them in my Honeysuckle Lane Etsy shop. I had every intention of combining all my shops, even announced it, but people keep searching for and coming back to my old shops... guess I'll have to figure something else out. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
