...into the woods behind my home. Let me tell you, half a day can slip by before I realize it when I am out walking in the woods. I enjoy hearing the birds, the squirrels, the bull frog that makes his home by the little stream...
This morning I went for a walk and took some pictures to share with you...
Ferns make me feel so calm and peaceful...
I planted this little flower in the hole in the tree several years ago. It keeps popping up each spring (see photo below).
I LOVE this old tree. I think I'll transplant some native ferns in it this evening. If for some reason it ever has to be cut down, I told my husband I wanted it cut off right at the ground, left about 5 or 6 feet tall, cleaned up, and placed in a corner of my workroom.
I'm short, 5'3" if I stretch, but these huge old trees make me feel 5 inches tall!
But isn't it a glorious feeling to look up through the leaves at the warm sunlight filtering through?
Our walk was short but sweet ~ but I'll take you on another walk someday soon.
I hope you enjoyed it!

That was a refreshing walk! I like the old tree. No wonder you want to preserve it! I love visiting your blog every day now since I discovered it a couple of weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you took us on your walk---what beautiful trees! and I think that ferns are my favorite plant. I find them lovely to look at and peaceful, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing all that beautiful green Lana...everything is turning brown here. I have green in my garden of course, but it just doesn't seem as lush.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
What a wonderful walk. Thanks! Love the trees and what a great idea to plant in them!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, Lana!! Thanks for taking us for a walk!

What a wonderful walk, Lana! How lucky you are to live just right there, with the ferns and the old trees.
ReplyDeleteSo peaceful and beautiful. I love lots of trees and green things.

There is a ridge out by my grandfathers farm that I love to take morning walks on. It overlooks the mountains on three sides, and the breeze rushes up from the trees and you can smell everything blooming all over the hillside. Whenever I feel like I need my spirit restored, thats where I take off to!
ReplyDeleteI am now 7 hours from my grandfathers... I have been homesick for his farm lately, I guess I need to find my own little secret garden area to take walks and daydream, eh?
Love your blog!
what a lovely post...beautiful ferns and wonderful pictures. Thank you for sharing.
