I'll admit, I'm losing steam... I don't even have my tree out of the box yet! I hope to
mail out the last custom order this week, and then I will concentrate on
home and family... and the grand-daughter that is due to arrive near
the end of January! :)
Our first grand-baby is due in just over a month! Poppy (Roger) is finishing up the baby bed and Saturday morning I finished up a little quilt and two framed prints just in time for the baby shower.
I have loved Cori Dantini's art since I saw it online a few years ago. It's sweet, fun, whimsical, innocent... perfect for a nursery!
I found coordinating fabrics featuring Cori's art at Hawthorne Threads (manufactured by Blend Fabrics) and since I was waiting till the last minute to make something for the baby shower, I opted for the fabric that looked like pieced squares and made a hand-tied, whole cloth quilt!
I pieced a couple of coordinating prints (also Cori's art) for the back... a sweet acorn print and a purple dot print...
and I used her pretty, pink scallop print for the binding.
And of course, I had to order a couple of Cori's adorable owl prints to go with the quilt! These are 8" x 8" prints that I placed on pink scrapbook paper and framed in 12" x 12" frames from Joann.com. The frames are actually float frames but I decided to add the scrapbook paper instead of letting the wall color show through.
The last thing I did was add a hand-written label with a little flower and owl scribbled in the corners. I used a Sakura Pigma Micron Pen and heat set it with an iron. Even after washing in warm water it didn't fade or bleed. Whew!
Now we just have to wait patiently for that little bundle of joy to arrive. :)
Only a couple of weeks remain to take advantage of the 50% off coupon code for my Lana Manis Designs Etsy shop. Visit here, and then use this code, GOODBYE2015, during checkout to get half off as many prints and original art pieces as you want! :)
If you don't do Etsy, just contact me with your order and shipping information, and I'll send a PayPal invoice and remove the art from the shop.
At the end of the year, all remaining items will be removed and a little later I will list them at the regular price either in my Honeysuckle Lane Etsy shop, or on my own website.
I've been itching to get into my wool stash and start doing more handwork. I've managed to sneak a little time in here and there, and while I have to stop again to work on another custom order, I plan to take it back up next week.
I LOVE using Valdani threads... can't wait to order more!
I have just a couple items listed at Early Work Mercantile this morning. If you'd like to read more about them, click here.
That's it for today... I've got to get back to work! :)
I'll make this a fairly short and sweet blog post...
I've been busy and didn't have time to make any extra handwork to offer in time for Black Friday shopping.
So, I have created a 20% off coupon code for you to use in my Honeysuckle Lane Etsy shop.
Here's the code: THANKS2015.
Just apply it during checkout to get 20% off all items in the shop! This expires in another day or so.
I am determined to have at least one collection to offer before Christmas. I'll let you know when it's ready. :)
Remember when I announced Roger and I will be 1st time grandparents in a
few months? The baby is due near the end of January. Roger had his
second carpal tunnel surgery scheduled some time back so his hand could heal in
time to work on a baby bed.
Here are the makings of a fine
heirloom... completely hand-crafted, no plans, just a couple of photos
we found online to serve as inspiration. It's made from cherry and will
convert from a baby bed to a full size bed (eventually). Now for the
sanding, staining, sealing, and assembly!
I'll share more photos as it progresses. I can hardly wait to see it finished!
