Giving In

I had not planned on making more vintage book wreaths for a while and instead I planned on concentrating on home and garden projects. But due to several requests, I am listing a limited amount of  made to order wreaths in my Simple Joys Paperie Etsy shop.

I do still need to keep my hands busy in the evenings when we finally settle down after supper and talk and watch tv, so rolling and stapling vintage hymnal pages will do the trick! :)

Thank you so much for your interest! :)

God bless,
Lana

A Buddy Update

Buddy continues to do better but I think he still misses Rufus.

When we go outside, he sometimes tends to wander to the places where he and Rufus used to play... under the flowering quince bush (as in the photo above) and in the honeysuckle vines where the yard meets the woods. Buddy will go there and just sit quietly for a few minutes, perhaps wondering where Rufus has gone. It breaks my heart to think of him missing his brother, but he is getting better and he loves all the attention he is getting.

He loves being with someone at all times. Whenever we go outside, he tags along, bouncing and jumping and wagging his tail, curious about everything!

He still loves playing with the knotted rope and that old shoe...

As long as anyone will keep throwing them for him to fetch, he will keep running after them and fetching...

We still haven't gotten another puppy yet, but that will come a little later and I'm sure Buddy will be very happy to have another canine friend.

{Buddy playing hide and seek. Even though the grass is short, he thinks if he lays as flat as possible, we can't see him!}

{Buddy enjoying the late evening sun while we clear off the garden.}

Thanks for stopping by today!
Take care and God bless,
Lana

A Long Distance Love Affair

Dear Pottery Barn,
You had me at the mailbox.
I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on your glossy pages filled with visions of my dream home.
It was as if you knew my heart's desires.
You enticed me even more with your ruching and your faded damasks...

... and your simple, casual style...

I know others loved you and that you loved them, too.
It was evident in your late arrivals and your worn and already thumbed through pages.
Each and every postal worker across the country must look forward to your appearances,
no matter how fleeting.

Every time I get a new issue, I plan on tossing out the old one(s) but I just can't bring myself to do so.
The pain is just too great and I retrieve them before they are spirited away by the well-meaning trash recyclers (otherwise known as my husband and son on their weekly Saturday trips to haul off the trash).

What if I finally decide to order the Coral Embroidered Guest Towels with Custom Monogramming that match my new bathroom color only to discover they were in a previous issue?

And let's not forget the Bedford Home Office Collection!
If, by chance, I won the lottery (of course, I'd have to buy a ticket first),
this would be on my shopping list and I'd certainly need the catalog to place a rush order!

What if I finally save enough money (since I don't buy lottery tickets) to buy the Gabrielle Persian Style Rugs and Variegated Silk Stripe Drapes for my living and dining rooms and can't find them in the newest publication???

Gasp! Perish those thoughts!!!

I save each and every issue of my beloved Pottery Barn
as if it were a love letter written to me by my one and only love...
from their heart to mine...

Oh Pottery Barn! If you only knew the depths of my love for you...

Yours faithfully,
L.M.M.

P.S. Someday we shall meet. I will place an order and you will make my dreams come true. :)

Miscellaneous Monday

...otherwise known as Saturday Sundries. ;)
I was busy gone most of Saturday at a garage sale at my sister's house and failed to do my Saturday Sundries post... so I'm catching up today. :)

sundries: miscellaneous small articles, details, or items

In today's earlier post about the giveaway winner, I used a small silver basket to hold the names of those that entered. I realized that without much conscious planning, I seemed to have acquired a collection of little silver baskets!

Some are old, some are new.... but all are fairly small and don't take up much space...

... until you have 11 or more!

A note about the garage sale we had Saturday --- unfortunately, it was a bust. I think I made just enough money to buy my gas driving to and from the garage sale. Normally, my sisters and I do very well at garage sales, but I guess the fact that the newspaper was FULL of other garage and yard sale listings with many of them in more convenient locations worked against us this time. Since I still have most of my vintage items, they are still on my website but I am also reopening my Vintage Honeysuckle Etsy shop and beginning to list them there for increased exposure. It will be easier for customers to make a purchase since they won't have to email me for an invoice. All they have to do is go to Vintage Honeysuckle and checkout as soon as they are ready. :)

Guess I'd better get busy. Yard work is on my to-do list this week!

Have a great week, everyone!
Take care and God bless,
Lana
