Do you know what this is? I've had this piece for years and finally decided to use it in one of my jewelry assemblages. However, I'm not really sure what it is called.
There are pin clasps on the backs of the smaller pieces at the top. You can see where I've flipped one of them over. Would it have pinned to a coat?
Any ideas are appreciated!

looks like a sweater guard to me, some of them have clips, on the sides, not pins. they were made to hold a sweater closed, or a shawl.
