Making Blackberry Jelly

I'm still making blackberry jelly / jam. We are picking them every few days before the bear gets them.

I called it jelly to begin with, but I am allowing some pulp to squeeze through but no seeds. Maybe it's a cross between jelly and jam?

And I ran out of Sure-jell and made it with only berries and sugar. I was worried about cooking it the right amount if time because I couldn't find my candy thermometer, but it turned out great, as well!

Poppy and Jolee both approve, so I guess that's all that matters. 🥰

Thanks for stopping by!

Take care and God bless,
Lana

Blackberry Pickin’

I’m making blackberry jelly this week. The berries have started to ripen and we have to pick them as soon as possible so the local bear doesn’t eat them. 🐻 It already picked our blueberry bush clean overnight!

We let our blackberry canes get out of control the last couple of years. I’m not sure how we will clean this tangled mess, but at least they are thornless. That makes berry pickin’ much more enjoyable. 😁
Although, planting a few along the barbed wire fence defeats the purpose of thornless berry bushes.

Is anyone else making jellies or jams. What is your favorite?

In a few days I’ll share some more gardening and canning photos...
and a very sweet surprise! 🥰

Take care and God bless,
Lana
