Grace for Today

Grace for Today

Grace for Today by lanamanis

I'm really loving this polyvore thing! This time I made a collection inspired by my little church painting, Grace for Today. I rounded up lots of aquas with some gold accents: a Jesus Calling book to read while lounging on that gorgeous sofa, a diamond shaped lamp for a bit of opulence, a glass topped accent table, gold silk drapes, a little creamer and sugar bowl, a pair of ceramic birds. If you are interested in any of the items, polyvore automatically provided a link to them at the end of this blog post. They can be found at Dayspring and Wayfair.

My original painting from which the print was made.

And as much as I'd like to say I was provided some of these goodies to review, I wasn't. I just enjoy browsing on those sites and making wish lists! :)

Take care and God bless,
Lana

Hydrangea Cottage Living Room

Hydrangea Cottage Living Room

Somehow, I make it all through the winter without getting sick, but as soon as the skies are blue and hints of spring are in the air... I catch whatever's still lingering around.

So, in between fevers and chills and coughing and aching and rattling in my chest (sounds fun, huh?), I have spent this past week in my recliner, playing Solitaire, FreeCell, and most recently curating home decor collections on Polyvore.

For some reason, I usually forget to incorporate my own artwork into my decor. I make it and sell it or take it to a shop that sells my work. When someone comes to visit and asks to see something I made, I don't have anything to show unless it's in my workroom waiting to be sold. I thought it would be fun to choose one of my paintings as the focal point and build an entire collection around it. This collection features items that can be found on Wayfair. Back when they were known as CSN Stores, I won a gift certificate and used it to purchase a Cuisinart coffeemaker from them. Later on, they provided a gift certificate for a giveaway on my blog.
I could decorate my entire house with Wayfair! I think I'll head back over there and start a wish list... see you later! :)

Have a blessed day,
Lana

The Forgotten Ones - original acrylic paintings

While going through my paintings, searching for one that sold and needed to be shipped, I found a few small paintings that I had forgotten. Evidently I had scanned them for prints but forgot to list them for sale in my Etsy shop.

Seeing them made me want to get started painting again very soon. And that reminded me that I need to start taking time at least a few hours a week to paint. I love painting, but always feel as if I have to have everything perfectly planned before I get out my paints and brushes.

But that causes me to wait... and wait some more... because I never have everything perfectly planned. Who does???

So... maybe I'll just clear a space for painting and keep it ready at all times and when the mood strikes, I can go paint. Sounds like a plan to me!

Do you have a dedicated work space, something reserved specifically for painting, crafting, sewing, etc?

Going Backwards

Don't look back.
Never look back.
Don't revisit the past.
That's what they say.

But I say...
Sometimes looking back is ok.
Sometimes going backward is ok.

As much as I love the new things I make and do, the vintage book page wreaths and the assemblage jewelry, a part of me longs to go back and be inspired by naive artwork of the 18th and 19th centuries...again, and feel the slight tension as I pull threads through wool and linen... again. I want to go back and paint whimsical frakturs and then use those paintings as patterns for wool applique designs and hand stitch and make something that connects to the past.

I haven't tried embroidery since it was so painful a year ago. My hands and fingers ache as I type this, but I am determined to try once more.
Fingers crossed... oops, better not... that hurts, too!

I hope you will come back once in a while and see how it's going... even if it's going backwards... in time. :)

Take care and God bless,
Lana

P.S. I will continue making my paper whimsies and jewelry... I love those too much to stop! ♥

Spring Fever = Spring Cleaning

Spring fever set in a week or so ago and I have been paring down my collections yet again!

I have listed everything on my Honeysuckle Lane Shop blog, so if you'd like to see all the items, just click this link.

I'll leave the page up for a couple of weeks and then it'll be time to move on to something else.

Have a lovely day!
Lana
