A Buddy Update & Less Interesting News

First of all, thank you for your concern about Buddy since he lost his brother, Rufus. He is doing much better now and is taking full advantage of being spoiled. He LOVES his squeaky raccoon and takes it wherever he goes. :)

Now for the less interesting and not as cute news:
Since tomorrow is my Saturday Sundries post day, I thought I'd share my ending soon and coming soon items with you today.

Ending soon:
Don't forget to use this code during checkout in the Etsy shops: MARCH2012SALE

Coming soon:
  •  May Dew Basket ~ I wasn't going to make anything for another month or so, but I happened to think of these that I made several years ago and I couldn't resist making just a few in time for May Day. I'll share the new ones later tonight or tomorrow along with the Saturday Sundries post.

That's it for now! I hope all of you have a wonderfully, blessed weekend!

Take care,

Saturday Sundries

sundries: miscellaneous small articles, details, or items

Well, I've made it three Saturdays in a row, maybe this was a good idea! :)

This petite piece is just 4 inches long. It's made of velvet with a little layer of wool inside the shoe for needles. I think a thimble would fit down in the shoe, just under the round cushion.

I acquired this little pincushion from Mexico. Nope, I've never been there but I purchased it from someone in Mexico. It's times like those that I love the internet. It allows you to shop worldwide in just a few minutes!

That's it for today. Saturday Sundries are fairly short and sweet. If you'd like to see my other Saturday Sundries posts, just click here and enjoy!

Take care and God bless,

P.S. Thank you for all the kind comments about our recent loss of Rufus. We are still so sad, but we know that Buddy is here and needs us even more now. Even though I didn't want to even consider it at first, we are talking about getting a friend for Buddy to play with and help heal the ache in his little puppy heart for his brother.

Sad Hearts

I had a post already written and saved as a draft to be posted today. I didn't know whether or not to let it go on as scheduled since I was supposed to announce a winner. The thing is, Rufus, Buddy's brother, was hit by a car late last night. Thankfully, if you can say that, it happened quickly and he was already gone by the time I got a flashlight and found him. That's all I can say. I don't know what else to say other than it's odd how two little, scruffy, tail-wagging, abandoned pups can show up at your house one morning and totally take over your life and heart in such a short time. I want to share a few of the many, many photos that I took of Rufus and Buddy yesterday when we were out in the yard and field playing.

Buddy already misses him. Until now, they were never apart. Thank you for letting me share Rufus (and Buddy) with all of you here on my blog and on Rufus and Buddy's facebook page. I suppose it will stay open and I will continue to share Buddy with you from time to time.

Since I had a giveaway winner to announce, today's original post will continue below rather than try to rewrite everything again another time.

Happy Friday!!!

Before everyone takes off for the weekend, I wanted to announce the winner Rufus and Buddy's Photo Caption Contest. There were so many funny ones and several sweet ones..... that you made it so hard to choose! Hence, I turned to the random number generator for the winner. Not all comments had a caption entry and a couple entered twice, so I weeded those out and that left 20 entries. Ready???

 Post  #4 ~ Cookie!!!

"... and then, the Vet had the nerve to say something about my breath! Do you smell garrrrrrrrrrrlic??"
Congratulations, Cookie! You can choose a felted flower pin or ribbon flower pin of your choice and a set of cards of your choice. Also, let me know if you own a dog or a cat and the pups and I will send a treat for their fellow canine or feline friend, too!

Rufus and Buddy send puppy kisses to you ...well, as soon as they quit fetching that stick!!!!

Just send us your address so we can get your gifts to you asap! :)

Now on to the Vintage Goodies ~

I updated the Vintage pages of my website on March 17th. Some things have already sold, some are spoken for and I'm waiting for payment. Once paid, I'm removing the listings instead of just leaving them marked sold in case you wonder why there are some missing numbers on the items.

Here's a sample of what you will find there:

Thanks for stopping by ~

I hope all of you are enjoying a beautiful spring!
If you are, you really don't need these photos.
But for those of you that are experiencing cold, snow, wind, or rain,
I hope these photos of bees in my flowering quince help to brighten your day.
Enjoy & God bless!

{photo via}

I was visiting facebook this morning and clicked on a YouTube link, then clicked on another, and another... you know how that goes... and finally happened upon this enchanting & whimsical video! I really like the music.... and I LOVE the shadow puppetry! The description reads: "Lior's second single from his second album 'Corner Of An Endless Road' featuring Sia in duet. Puppetry design and production by Stephen Mushin and 'Stories from the Ground' puppetry, in collaboration with award winning director, Natasha Pincus."

You can watch a behind-the-scenes video about the making of the music video here:

And if you are interested in even more paper art, check out this video featuring the work of Michel Ocelot;

And go back in time to watch this fascinating video of how Lotte Reiniger made her silhouette films:

No Doubt

There is no doubt in my mind...

Stuff literally multiplies likes rabbits...

when it's been stored for months and months in your basement...

or in your your workroom...

and whenever you are not looking...

so, you know what this means...

another junk sale Saturday night!

I had planned on going through all of my vintage silver pieces for this sale, but I don't think I'll have time to do all of it. It takes a while to sort, photograph, edit, write descriptions (even short ones), upload, and then go back and make corrections, write the newsletter update.... whew! I'd better get busy!

I'll have items on the Vintage pages of my website and I will also list some items on eBay Sunday night. I'll come back Saturday evening and post when everything's ready.

Take care and God bless,

Saturday Sundries

sundries: miscellaneous small articles, details, or items

Well, here I am, right on schedule for once! Maybe this is going to work, after all! :)

Today I'm sharing one of my more recent pincushion acquisitions. I just love these puzzle balls!

I especially like the velvet ones.

And when they are aqua, coral, and brown.... well...

That's just the icing on the cake!

{oops! haven't cleaned it up with sticky tape yet!}

Photo Caption Contest & Puppy Vet Fund!

Hi everyone! Who can resist a cute puppy? Evidently we (my family and I) find it especially hard to resist TWO cute puppies! These little rascals have recently made their home here with us and are always providing some sort of entertainment. They are cute, energetic, curious, and are the objects of several recent photo shoots. Although the above photo isn't the perfect pose or completely in focus, it is humorous! I thought it would be fun to let you come up with a caption for it. The winner will receive 2 handmade items from Honeysuckle Lane Folk Art: a felted flower pin or ribbon flower pin of your choice and a set of cards of your choice. Also, if you are notified as the winner, let me know if you own a dog or a cat and the pups and I will send a treat for their fellow canine or feline friend, too!

To enter, just leave a comment with a caption for the above photo. Make sure to include your email address or a link back to your blog or website so that I may contact you if you are the winner. The winning caption will be announced on the evening of Saturday, March 17th. Good luck!

The contest is now closed. Things were busy over the weekend and I didn't have a chance to choose a winner. I'll be back by the weekend to announce who won! :)

Feel free to click one of the share links at the end of this post to tell your friends on twitter, facebook, etc. about the photo caption contest.

Now, here's the story of the pups: Late into the night on February 1st, I thought I heard a car in the driveway, but by the time I found a flashlight and went outside on the porch, I didn't see or hear anything. I went back to bed and never thought another thing about it... until morning. We got up, had coffee, and Roger left for work, or so I thought. In just a couple minutes he came back to the door and said we had company... and there were two of the cutest pups I have ever seen!

I can't imagine someone wanting to get rid of them, but that may be what happened the night before when I heard a car outside, or maybe that was just a coincidence.

Regardless, no one ever claimed them or came looking for them. Now that more than a month has passed, we have adopted them as our own! We named them Rufus (left) and Buddy (right).

I think you'll be seeing more and more of them on the blog. They are just too adorable and comical ~ I can't keep from taking photos of them every few days.

They love playing with the old shoes I gave them...

and they always want the same bone...

Once.... and I mean once in a great while they will calm down long enough for me to get a few non-blurry photos like this one...

or this one...

Otherwise, they look like this...

and this...

and this...

and this...

and this...

and this...

and this...

Hmmm, I think I see a pattern here. Maybe Rufus is the one that can't be still!

We are just starting with vet care. The first vaccinations were today and there are more to follow soon, as well as having them neutered as soon as they are old enough. I bought a pet carrier Sunday afternoon and Rufus and Buddy actually took to it very well and traveled without incident in the car on the way to the vet. We'll leave the actual visit inside the vet's office for another post. ;-)

So this brings me to the puppy vet fund part of this blog post. I hadn't planned on making any more handmade items for at least a couple months other than what I make for the Lavender Festival in June and we certainly hadn't planned on taking care of more animals for a while. To help with the unexpected costs, proceeds from my website and Etsy shop sales (of items already made as well as vintage items) will go to help fund the immediate and near future vet care of Rufus and Buddy. If you are shopping for a unique, handmade item AND want to contribute to the care of these sweet pups, feel free to shop with us! :) You may find links to all my handmade items for sale HERE. You may also find a few randomly discounted items on my facebook pages here and here.

Rufus and Buddy thank you from ends of their cute puppy noses to the tips of their constantly wagging tails!

That's it for now... and don't forget to leave an entry for the photo caption!

Take care and God bless,
{and Rufus and Buddy}
