One more week...

... until the drawing for Springtime Giveaway!

It's also one more week until spring,
and one more week until I have more items listed for sale.
Here's a peek at a few of them:

{This one is a quirky owl that I painted, surrounded by penny rug tongues.}
 I don't feel like doing much in my workroom, so I've been sitting at the dining table, drinking lots of hot drinks and painting watercolors. I'm sure you're tired of hearing me mention it, but I am still dealing with this sinus / cough / congestion thing. Yes, it'll be 3 weeks tomorrow and I feel like I've lost those 3 weeks ~ I've only gone to town once in those 21 days! I switched meds over the weekend and think DayQuil is helping much more than what I was previously taking. Fingers crossed! :)

{I did a couple more in whimsical colors, added more detail and a border to one I did a few years ago and thought I'd lost but recently found, and painted a couple of pink and brown ones after being inspired by a customers color request.}

Be sure to check back next Sunday, the 20th, for the giveaway winners and for a fun surprise! :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Lana

Folk Art Frolics!

We have had such lovely weather this past week (not counting the rain yesterday and today) and I really, really needed some sunshine! I've had the doors and windows open and have enjoyed listening to the birds and frogs. I'm now ending week 2 of this flu / respiratory illness and am ready for it to be over and done with! After week 1 of the flu, I finally started feeling like creating and I must have been ready for some color! I have been painting like crazy and using lots of fun, whimsical, citrusy colors in my artwork. Some of the frames used are vintage and antique, too!

I've also been inspired by so many design elements from the 18th and 19th centuries: flowers and baskets found in fraktur artwork, deer, squirrels, and stylized landscapes found in crewel needlework, stripes of the hit and miss hooked rugs and tongues and pennies of penny rugs. I hope you enjoy how I interpreted all of it!

Please come visit the Artwork page at Honeysuckle Lane when you have time and let me know what you think about the new watercolors.

I'll be doing a giveaway on my blog beginning tonight around 8pm. Check back then for details on the prize. You may enter by commenting on this giveaway blog post titled Springtime Giveaway, or if you'd rather, just email me and ask for your name to be added to the entries and I'll add it in the comments.

Have a lovely Sunday!

Citrus!

You may have noticed in my previous sneak peek post that I used bright, whimsical, citrus colors in my artwork.

I went to the store this morning to pick up a few things and went through the little craft department to get a bottle of green paint to paint a frame. Well, the citrus colors just begged for me to take them home! I may paint a collection of frames in citrus colors to go with my folk art watercolors that I am working on this week.

I couldn't resist the ombre' wired ribbons either! They make beautiful ribbon flowers!

And of course, I always have to go past the magazines before I checkout, so....

Look at the colors on the Flea Market Style magazine ~ citrus! It must be something in the air... sniff, sniff... ahhhhhh......

Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to visit Honeysuckle Lane tomorrow night to see my new artwork!

Take Care and God Bless,
Lana

See you Saturday! :)
