Busy as a bee, I am...

I've been working non-stop (almost) on items for the Lavender Festival that will be held in Oak Ridge on June 19th. However, I did take off last Saturday to go to a bead show in Nashville with my niece. There were so many gorgeous beads for sale that it was overwhelming! I managed to make a few decisions on which ones to purchase and brought home a bag full of gemstone beads. I am looking forward to making jewelry and paper whimsies later this summer.

In the meantime, I have been working on silk ribbon pillow tops and will be sewing them up and stuffing them next week. This year will be different as I will have only silk ribbon embroidered items. At least I don't think I'll have time to make anything else.

I wanted to have some jewelry for sale, but with all that I've been trying to get done here at home, I just didn't have the time to put my best into it, so the jewelry will come later.

So, for all of you that have called or emailed me or those that stopped in at the Ferrell Shop and asked if I'll be there... yes I will and I will definitely have my regular silk ribbon items. :)

Each year I try to plan a theme, whether it be color, style, flower... whatever. And each year the theme has a mind of its own and the outcome is different than what I plan. It all comes together, but it is usually not what I imagined at first. That's what happened this year too. I had a color theme in mind, along with particular display items. Once I began looking through my linen fabrics, I ended up going with background colors that range from ivory to taupe to golden brown and from pale aqua to teal to midnight blue. Once they are on display, I think they will look really pretty!

Also, my burlap fabric is a very loose weave and sheds a lot, so  hope I can still make the table coverings I'd planned. I found some old shabby shutters in my basement along with some shabby spindles. I have some projects in mind that involve tarnished silver trays and the shabby pieces, so we'll see how it turns out. I'll be sure to take some photos, and if I can remember, I will take before and after photos of the projects.

Thanks for checking in... I'll post again before the fesival. :)

Take care and God bless,
Lana
